The Hochkönig ski area has 39 lifts, 150 km of groomed slopes and 40 km of maintained cross country trails ranging from 900 to 2000m above sea level.From our house the free ski bus is just 5 minutes walk, and this takes you either to the Mitterberg-Hochkeil area,  which is excellent for children and beginners, or the cable car where you can ski from Mühlbach to Maria Alm and back, if you have the energy. From the cable car you can ski right back to the village and to within 2 minutes of our house,  snow conditions permitting.

For the snowboarder there are 4 snowboarding parks in the ski area.One between Mühlbach and Dienten, 2 in the Hintermoos area and the 4th in Maria Alm. There are a few drag lifts in the area but you can mainly avoid them and use the chair lifts.

The area lift pass is also valid for the whole Ski Amade area- 5 areas, 25 Locations, 860 km of pistes and 270 lifts. including Schladming, Dachstein glacier , Flachau, and Bad Gastein. All within half an hours drive of Mühlbach.

There is a ski Kindergarten for 3 and 4 year olds in Mühlbach which runs from 10-12 daily. From 4 years they can stay all day.A charge is made locally and places need to be booked through the ski school  .
